Ord 408 Fire Zones

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TROY, KANSAS DEFINING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONES WITHIN SAID CITY, AND PROHIBITING TE BURNING OR ACCUMULATION OF TRASH, RUBBISH OR GARBAGE WITHIN SUCH FIRE ZONES, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF SUCH ORDINANCE.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF TROY, KANSAS:

SECTION ONE.   There are hereby established fire zones within the City of Troy, Kansas, which shall be those areas in said city within which the provisions of and regulations established by this ordinance shall be effective.  The following areas within the City of Troy, Doniphan County, Kansas, are hereby established and designated as fire zones:

                (a)           The South half of Block 11, original town, now City of Troy;

                (b)           Lots 3, 4 and 5 in Block 10, original town, now City of Troy;

                (c)           The East half of Block 15, original town, now City of Troy;

                (d)           The East half of Block 22, original town, now City of Troy;

                (e)           Block 14, original town, now City of Troy, commonly called the Public Square or Courthouse Square;

                (f)            The West half of the North half of Block 23, original town, now City of Troy;

                (g)           The East half of Lot 4, and all of Lots 5 through 15 in Hayton’s Addition to the original town, now City of Troy;

                (h)           All of the streets and alleys of the City of Troy and additions thereto.

SECTION TWO.  From and after the effective day of this ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partnership, association, or corporation to set or permit to be set any fire, to burn any trash, rubbish, refuse, or garbage, or to cause or permit the dumping or accumulation of any trash, rubbish, refuse, or garbage within any of the areas designated as fire zones herein, provided, however, that the provisions of this ordinance shall not prohibit the burning an disposal of trash, rubbish, refuse, or garbage in any enclosed furnace or incinerator located inside of any permanent building or structure, the draft of which furnace or incinerator is connected to the flue or chimney of such building or permanent structure.

SECTION THREE.             Every person convicted of a violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than $5.00 nor more than $100.00.

SECTION FOUR.                This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its publication in the Kansas Chief.
