AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TROY, KANSAS ESTABLISHING EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES, PROVIDING WHEN PARKING ON EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES IS PROHIBITED, AND AUTHORIZING ANY VEHICLE PARKED ON AN EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTE DURING A SNOW EMERGENCY TO BE TOWED AT THE OWNER’S EXPENSE.
WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Troy, Kansas, has determined that motor vehicles being parked on certain city streets and portions thereof during snow emergencies impedes snow removal efforts and creates a safety hazard.
THEREFORE, IT IS ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OFTROY, KANSAS:
That for purposes of this ordinance the following definitions shall apply:
“Emergency Snow Route” shall mean and include Main Street between myrtle Street and Lower State Street; Chestnut Street between Main Street and Liberty Street; Liberty Street between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street; Liberty Street between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street; Walnut Street between main Street and Liberty Street; and such additional streets or portions thereof as are, by signs placed thereon, designated as Emergency Snow Routes.
Any vehicle parked on street designated as an Emergency Snow Route may be towed by the City ofTroy, its employees, agents or designees and all expenses associated with towing and/or storing said vehicle shall be paid by the owner thereof.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its publication in the official city paper.
