Ordinance No. 95

An Ordinance in Relation to Building Sidewalks in the City of Troy, and in East Troy (an Addition to the City of Troy), and in C. J. Jones’ Addition to the City of Troy

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:

Section 1. 

The owners of property fronting on the streets hereinafter named, and on the sides of streets designated, are hereby directed and required to build sidewalks as follows:

  • Commencing at the southwest corner of Block No. Twelve (12) of the original Town (now City) of Troy, thence running east on the north side of Walnut Street to the southeast corner of Block No. Twelve (12).
  • Beginning at the southeast corner of Block No. Four (4), East Troy, thence running east on the north side of Boon Street (an extension of Walnut Street) to the southeast corner of Block No. Four (4).
    • Beginning at the northwest corner of Block No. Nineteen (19), East Troy, thence running east on the south side of Boon Street to the northeast corner of Block No. Twenty-four (24), East Troy.
    • Beginning at the southwest corner of Block No. Thirty-two (32), East Troy, thence running east on the north side of Boon Street to the southeast corner of Block No. Thirty-nine (39), East Troy.
    • Beginning at the northeast corner of Block No. One (1), C. J. Jones’ Addition to the City of Troy, thence running south along the west side of Park Street (or Jones Avenue) to the northeast corner of Block No. Three (3) of said addition; thence running west along the south side of Jones Street to the northwest corner of Block No. Three (3) of said C. J. Jones’ Addition.
  • Section 2.

    Said sidewalks shall be built not less than three (3) feet wide, of plank two (2) inches thick, or of stone or brick.

    Section 3.

    The sidewalks provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance shall be built within sixty (60) days from the time this ordinance takes effect, and if not so built, the city authorities shall proceed to build the same as authorized by law.

    Section 4.

    This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in The Weekly Kansas Chief.
