Ordinance No. 92

An Ordinance in Relation to the Sale or Advertisement of Any Goods, Wares, and Merchandise at Stands or Places in the City in Which Lectures, Speeches, Loud Talk, Music, Songs, or Entertainments of Any Kind Are Given for the Purpose of Attracting Attention or Drawing a Crowd

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:

Section 1.

No person or persons shall, within the City of Troy, for the purpose of selling or advertising any goods, wares, or merchandise, deliver any lectures, make any speeches, indulge in any loud talk, play upon any musical instrument, sing any song, or give any entertainment of any kind, without first obtaining a license therefor.

Such license shall be granted upon the applicant first paying into the City Treasury:

  • Ten dollars ($10.00) for the first person;
  • Three dollars ($3.00) for each additional person connected therewith,

for each and every day said goods, wares, and merchandise shall be offered for sale or advertisement.

The applicant shall also pay the City Clerk a fee of fifty cents ($0.50) for issuing each license.

Section 2.

Any person violating the provisions of Section 1 of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00).

Section 3.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in The Weekly Kansas Chief.
