An Ordinance in Relation to Granting General Business Licenses.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:
Sec. 1. That no person or co-partnership of persons shall do business within the City, as bankers, brokers, merchants of any kind, druggists, restaurant keepers not selling intoxicating drinks, eating houses, butchers, stove and tinware dealers, lumber dealers, furniture dealers, saddle or harness dealers, jewelers, livery stable keepers, life insurance companies or their agencies, and scales where a charge is made for weighing, without having first obtained a license therefor.
Sec. 2. The said license shall be granted at the rate of five dollars per year; Provided, that any person paying said license tax shall be entitled to receive credit for that amount upon his city tax, upon presentation of the receipt to the County Treasurer.
Sec. 3. That any person, persons, firms, companies, corporations, or co-partnerships doing business, or carrying on any business, trade or profession, who shall do business or carry on any such trade or profession in this city, without having first obtained a license therefor, and paid into the city treasury the amount required to be paid therefor, under the provisions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction, be fined in a sum of not less …

Tax Credit Provision

Sec. 3. That any person, persons, firms, companies, corporations, or co-partnerships doing business, or carrying on any business, trade or profession, who shall do business or carry on any such trade or profession in this city, without having first obtained a license therefor, and paid into the city treasury the amount required to be paid therefor, under the provisions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction, be fined in a sum of not less than five dollars, nor more than one hundred dollars, for each offense.
Section 4
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its publication in pamphlet form.
