Ordinance No. 76

An Ordinance in Relation to Selling Merchandise at Public Outcry, Other Than at Auction

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:

Section 1.

Before any hawker or other person shall proceed to sell, within the limits of the City of Troy, merchandise of any class whatsoever at public outcry of any kind, other than at auction to the highest bidder, he shall procure a hawker’s license for such purpose and shall pay a license tax of one dollar ($1.00) for each day he desires to sell.

Section 2.

Any person violating the provisions of Section 1 of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than ten dollars ($10.00) for each offense.

Section 3.

Any person licensed as aforesaid who shall be guilty of any fraud, cheat, misrepresentation, or imposition while acting in such capacity shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00).

Section 4.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in The Weekly Kansas Chief.
