An Ordinance Relating to the Duties of the City Attorney.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:
Sec. 1. It shall be the duty of the City Attorney to appear and prosecute or defend all actions which may be brought by or against the city, or in which the city may be interested; and he shall draft all ordinances, bonds, contracts, conveyances, and such other instruments of writing as may be required by the business of the city; he shall advise the City Council and all officers of the city upon such legal questions affecting the duties of their offices or the interests of the city, as may be submitted to him, furnishing written opinions when the same may be required; he shall also give his personal attention to, and prosecute, any and all violations of the ordinances of the city, and perform all other professional services incident to his office which may be required of him by the City Council.
Section 2
Sec. 2. The City Attorney shall receive for his services to the City Council the sum of twenty-five dollars per year, payable quarterly, and such further sum as may be agreed upon between him and the Council, as fees in cases before any other tribunal than the court of the Police Judge; and for attendance at trials before said Judge, he shall receive $2.50 for each and every case, to be taxed as costs therein.
Section 3
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in pamphlet form.
