An Ordinance in Relation to Weeds Along Sidewalks

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:

Section 1.

It shall be the duty of the owner or owners of lots along which sidewalks are built, or may hereafter be built, to keep the sidewalks in front of their lots free of weeds, so as not to interfere with travel along the same.

Section 2.

If the owners of such lots, or their tenants, fail for six days after notice by the Street Commissioner to cut such weeds, it shall be the duty of the Street Commissioner to cause the same to be cut and removed.

Upon completion of such work, the Street Commissioner shall render his bill to the City Council for the services performed.

Section 3.

The Street Commissioner shall report the number of all lots along which he has cut or caused the weeds to be cut.

There shall then be assessed and levied a tax of one dollar ($1.00) per lot against the owner or owners of such lots, and against the real estate itself. This tax shall be collected in the same manner as other city taxes.

Section 4.

This ordinance shall be in force from and after its publication.
