Ordinance No. 24
An Ordinance in Relation to Shows and Exhibitions
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:
Section 1. No person shall exhibit, in this city, any theatrical performance, circus, show, or side show, nor have or make any public exhibition of any kind, except those of a literary, scientific, or artistic character, to which an admission fee is charged, without first having obtained a license therefor.
Such license shall be granted upon the applicant first paying into the City Treasury:
- Five dollars ($5.00) for a theatrical exhibition;
- Ten dollars ($10.00) for a circus;
- Five dollars ($5.00) for each side show traveling with, connected with, attached to, or separate from any circus;
- Three dollars ($3.00) for any other show or exhibition.
In addition, the applicant shall pay the City Clerk a fee of fifty cents (50¢) for issuing each license.
Section 2. Any person violating the provisions of the foregoing section shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than ten dollars ($10) nor more than fifty dollars ($50).
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in pamphlet form.
