An Ordinance Relating to Peddlers.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:
Sec. I. Every person who shall sell or offer to sell, or offer for sale, any goods, wares, merchandise, or other articles of trade, in any place in, upon, or along any street or alley, by going from place to place to sell the same or to offer the same for sale, shall be deemed a peddler.
Sec. II. It shall not be lawful for any peddler to exercise his calling within the limits of this City, without first having obtained a license therefor.
Sec. III. Any person desiring a peddler’s license, may obtain the same from the City Clerk, by paying therefor as follows: Each license, one day, Five Dollars.
Sec. IV. That this ordinance shall not apply to the sale of ice or to the sale of farm products or fruit when offered for sale by the producer thereof.
Sec. V. Any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined in any sum of not less than Five Dollars, nor more than Twenty-five Dollars, together with the costs of the prosecution thereof, and be committed to City jail till said fine and costs are paid.
Sec. VI. That Ordinance No. 21 and Page 31 of the Revised Ordinance of the 12th day of March, 1901 is hereby repealed.
Sec. VII. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its publication in the Kansas Chief.
