An Ordinance levying a license tax upon and regulating certain callings, trades and occupations in the City of Troy, and providing penalties for the violations thereof, and repealing all Ordinances in conflict therewith.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas.
Sec. I. That from and after the passage of this Ordinance each person, firm, or corporation not a resident of the City of Troy, Kansas and who shall sell or offer for sale any bread or other bakery products to any person, firm or corporation in the City of Troy, Kansas shall hereafter pay a license fee of $10.00 per year, which said license fee shall be paid in two equal installments. The first of which installments shall be due July 1st, and the other installment shall thereafter be due upon January 1st of each year thereafter; and in the event that any such person, firm or corporation, shall not begin the business of selling bread or other bakery products as aforesaid before the first of either month above mentioned, then such person, firm or corporation shall pay a license in proportion to the unexpired 6 months period and until the nearest July 1st or January 1st, in order to cover the remaining part of said months that said person, firm or corporation shall sell bread or other bakery products as aforesaid. That all license fees herein referred to shall be paid in advance. And any agent, officer, servant or employee, of any person, firm or corporation above mentioned shall pay the license fee herein provided for to the City Clerk of the City of Troy, Kansas, and show to the City Marshal or other officer of the City of Troy, Kansas, proper credentials establishing the fact that said license fee has been paid. And it is further provided that no license herein referred to shall be assignable to any other person, firm or corporation except the one to whom it is issued.
Sec. II. That anyone who shall violate any of the provisions of the foregoing section No. 1, shall be fined in a sum of not less than Five Dollars, nor more than One Hundred Dollars, and in addition thereto shall pay all costs of prosecution and stand committed to City jail till such fine and costs are paid.
Sec. III. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its publication in the Kansas Chief.
