An Ordinance regulating the speed of automobiles in the City of Troy, stating the number of lights to be used by cars between certain hours and forbidding the use of cars without displaying the official number plate furnished by the Secretary of State.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:
Sec. I. No person shall operate a motor vehicle on any of the streets or alleys of the City of Troy, Kansas, at a greater rate of speed than Fifteen miles per hour. And when crossing an intersection of streets in the City of Troy, motor vehicles shall not be driven at a greater rate of speed than eight miles per hour.
Sec. II. That every motor vehicle driven upon the streets or alleys of the City of Troy, Kansas, shall show between one half hour after sunset and one half hour before sunrise two lamps exhibiting white lights visible three hundred feet in the direction toward which the motor vehicle is proceeding, and shall also exhibit a red light visible at the rear end of said motor vehicle, and the lamps shall be so placed as to be free from obstruction to light from other parts of said motor vehicle.
Sec. III. No person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle upon any of the streets or alleys of the City of Troy, Kansas, unless the official number plate or tag furnished by the Secretary of State shall be conspicuously displayed on the rear of said motor vehicle. Said number plate shall at all times be kept free from oil, grease, dirt or other substances likely to impair its visibility and shall at all times be entirely unobstructed from one hour after sunset until one hour before sunrise.
Sec. IV. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined in a sum of not less than Five Dollars, and not more than Fifty Dollars, together with the cost of prosecution, and be confined in the jail till the fine and costs are paid.
Sec. V. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Sec. VI. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after its publication in the Kansas Chief.
