Ordinance #223
An Ordinance relating to the duties of City Attorney and fixing his salary and fees for compensation other than the City Attorney may be called upon to perform.
Be it Ordained by Mayor & Councilmen of City of Troy:
Sec. 1.
It shall be the duty of the City Attorney to appear and prosecute for or defend all actions which may be brought by or against the City or in which the City may be interested and he shall draft all ordinances, bonds, contracts, conveyances, and such other instruments in writing as may be required by the Mayor or the City; he shall advise the City Council and all officers of the City upon such legal questions affecting the duties of their offices as they may be submitted to him from time to time when the same shall be required; he shall also give his personal attention to and prosecute any and all violations of the Ordinances of the City and perform other professional services incidental to his office which may be required of him by the City Council.
Sec. 2.
The City Attorney shall receive for his services to the City Council the sum of Fifty Dollars per year, payable quarterly, and such other sum as may be agreed upon between him and the Council in case of any other tribunal than the Court of the Police Judge; and for attendance at trials before said Judge he shall receive five Dollars for each and every case to be taxed as costs therein.
Sec. 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Kansas Chief.
Sec. 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith and especially Ordinance #5 published in the Revised Ordinances of Troy and certified the 12th day of March A.D. 1901 are hereby repealed.
