Ordinance #215
An ordinance licensing certain shows and repealing Ordinance #182.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:
Sec. I. That for each traveling or travelling show, theater, moving picture show, carnival, merry-go-round, swing or other kind of exhibition to which admission is charged and that is planned to show or perform in the City of Troy in other than permanent buildings or enclosures or in the open, shall be charged a license tax for each day or part thereof. That said exhibition is given and for each separate place or thing to which admission or fee is charged, in the sum of Five Dollars, said license tax to be paid in advance for the day said performance is to continue. Provided that all Chautauquas and literary lectures and entertainments shall be exempt from said tax as well, also, as all concerts and musical or other like entertainments given by the Citizens of Troy.
Sec. II. Any person or persons who shall get up or show any of the exhibitions described in Section One hereof, without first having paid the license tax as provided in Section One, shall be fined for each performance or show not less than Twenty-five Dollars and not more than One Hundred Dollars and imprisonment until said fine and costs are paid.
Sec. III. That Ordinance #182 of this City passed and approved the 14th day of June-1920 is hereby
repealed.
Sec. IV. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication in the Kansas Chief.
