Ordinance No. 183
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:
Sec. I.
That no person shall hawk or peddle any article of merchandise or traffic, or offer the same for sale within the limits of the City of Troy without first having obtained a license therefor as hereinafter provided.
Provided, that any merchant or manufacturer shall be permitted to sell any such article of merchandise or traffic at retail, or offer the same for sale within the limits of the City of Troy without first having obtained a license therefor as hereinafter provided.
Sec. II.
That all peddlers or transient auctioneers or dealers shall pay into the City Treasury a license tax as hereinafter provided.
Sec. III.
The license tax under the provisions of this ordinance shall be Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day or any fraction thereof.
Sec. IV.
Any person or persons violating the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in a sum of not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor more than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) for each and every offense, each day’s violation being considered a separate offense.
Sec. V.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication in the Weekly Kansas Chief.
