SEC. 2. All licenses shall be dated on the day of their issue, and shall state the name of the applicant therefor, the kind of business he desires to engage in, the place where it is to be carried on, the amount paid, and the time when said license shall expire.

SEC. 3. All licenses shall expire on the first day of May next succeeding the time of taking out the same, except such as may be taken for a shorter time than one year, as provided for by ordinance; and all licenses shall be taken out on the first day of May of each year, except as otherwise provided by ordinance.

Provided, that any one desiring to commence business after the first day of May may obtain a license for the time intervening until the first day of May following by paying pro rata for the time between the taking of his license and the next succeeding first day of May.
