Ordinance No. 149

An ordinance providing for sidewalks.

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:

Sec. I. That the owners of property fronting or abutting on the west side of Liberty Street, the east side of Liberty Street, the north side of Walnut Street, and the north side of Boone Street, be and they are hereby directed to build sidewalks as follows:

  • On the west side of Liberty Street: Commence at the southeast corner of Block 11, Original Troy, thence north to the alley in said block.
  • On the east side of Liberty Street: Commence at the southwest corner of Block 12, Original Troy, thence north on said Liberty Street along the west side of Block 12, Block 1 and Block 42 to the northwest corner of said Block 42.
  • On the north side of Walnut Street and the north side of Boone Street: Commence on said Walnut Street at a point 78½ feet west of the west line of Liberty Street, thence east along Blocks 11 and 12, Original Troy, and along Blocks 4 and 11 in East Troy.

Sec. II. Said sidewalks shall be built on the grade established by Ordinance No. 148, approved the 17th day of April, 1912, and shall be built not less than four (4) feet in width and constructed in a good, substantial manner of cement, crushed rock and sand, at least five inches thick, then covered with a coat of cement and sand at least one inch thick.

Sec. III. Said sidewalks shall be built within twenty (20) days from the time this ordinance takes effect, and if not so built the City authorities

will proceed to build same as required by law.

Sec. IV. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication in the Weekly Kansas Chief.
