Ordinance No. 132

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:

Section 1

That the Kansas City Long Distance Telephone Company, its successors and assigns, are hereby granted the right to erect, construct, and maintain lines of poles and wires, together with all necessary and usual fixtures, for the purpose of operating and maintaining a telephone line and system in and along the streets and alleys of the City of Troy.

The ordinance then begins describing the approved route through the city, including:

  • beginning at the south end of State Street,
  • proceeding northward to the corporate limits,
  • returning east on Chestnut Street,
  • following the alley in Block Eighteen (18) and Block Twenty-two (22),
  • continuing north and south along alleys in those blocks,
  • proceeding eastward from the north end of the alley in Block Fifteen (15) along Walnut Street,
  • and extending to the middle of Block Eight (8), with all poles to be erected under the direction of the city’s Street and Alley Committee.

    Section 2

    This ordinance shall be and remain in force for and during the period of twenty (20) years from and after the date of its passage and approval.
