Ordinance No. 126A

An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 126 of the City of Troy.

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:

Section 1

That Section One (1) of Ordinance No. 126, passed and approved November 1, 1907, be amended to read:

It shall be unlawful for any person to distribute broadcast or scatter in the streets, alleys, or other grounds of the City of Troy any samples, packages, papers, dodgers, books, or other articles or things whatsoever.

Provided, this shall not be construed to prohibit:

  • the distribution of newspapers to readers;
  • notices of entertainments;
  • theatre meeting notices;
  • public sales;
  • live stock notices;
  • household goods notices;
  • grain notices; and
  • merchandise advertisements.

Section 2

That Section Three (3) of Ordinance No. 126 be amended to read:

Any person violating the provisions of either section of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than One Dollar ($1.00) and costs, and be confined in the city jail until the fine and costs are paid.

Section 3

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in The Weekly Kansas Chief.
