Ordinance No. 125

An Ordinance Regulating Railroad Crossings in the City of Troy.

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:

Section 1.

Every railroad company operating a railroad through the City of Troy is hereby prohibited from allowing its trains, engines, or cars to stand upon any public road or crossing in the city for more than ten (10) minutes at any one time without leaving an opening in the blocked portion of the street or crossing of at least thirty (30) feet in width.

Section 2.

Any person or employee of a railroad company operating a railroad through the city who shall fail or neglect to comply with Section 1 of this ordinance shall be guilty of a violation and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars ($25.00).

Section 3.

This ordinance shall take effect from and after its publication in The Weekly Kansas Chief, and a copy of the publication shall be served by the City Marshal upon the agents of each railroad operating through the city.
