Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy:
Sec. 1. Any person who keeps or harbors any dog or bitch in the City of Troy shall pay a license of $1.00 for each dog, and $2.50 for each bitch, for each year or part of a year the animal is kept or harbored.
Sec. 2. The license shall be collected by the City Marshal, who shall register with the City Clerk a description of the dog or bitch together with the name of the person paying the license.
Sec. 3. Anyone keeping or harboring a dog or bitch in the city for ten days without first obtaining a license shall be guilty of an offense and, upon conviction in Police Court, shall be fined not less than $1 nor more than $10.
Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of the City Marshal to kill every dog or bitch running at large in the city that is not duly licensed.
Sec. 5. Any bitch running at large while “in heat,” whether licensed or not, shall be killed by the City Marshal.
Sec. 6. It is unlawful to keep a notoriously vicious dog or bitch in the city. Violators are subject to a fine not exceeding $20.
Sec. 7. Ordinance No. 12 of the revised ordinances is repealed.
Sec. 8. This ordinance takes effect upon publication in pamphlet form.
