Ordinance No. 177

An ordinance establishing and fixing the street grades on parts of Walnut and First Streets, in the City of Troy, Kansas.

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Troy, Kansas:

Sec. I.

That the street grades on Walnut Street, from the east line of Liberty Street to the east line of Second Street, and on First Street, from the north line of Walnut Street to the south line of Myrtle Street, shall be established and fixed on the center line of said streets at the following elevations:

Walnut Street

Location Elevation
East line of Liberty Street 138.23 ft.
West line of First Street 117.35 ft.
East line of First Street 113.00 ft.
90 ft. east of east line of First Street 114.50 ft.
West line of Second Street 124.65 ft.
East line of Second Street 126.80 ft.

First Street

Location Elevation
North line of Walnut Street 114.30 ft.
South line of Myrtle Street 134.53 ft.

Said points above given shall be connected by straight lines or vertical curves, or a combination of the two methods, for the purpose of making an easier or better grade.

Sec. II.

The bench marks from which these elevations are taken are as follows:

  • Top rail, Main Line, St. Joseph & Grand Island Railway, immediately south of depot (inside corner of west rail), 92.00 feet.
  • Northwest corner of Walnut and Liberty Streets137.68 feet.
  • Southeast corner of Chestnut and Main Streets141.28 feet.
  • Southwest corner of Poplar and Liberty Streets139.40 feet.

Sec. III. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Sec. IV. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its publication in the Weekly Kansas Chief, the official city paper.
